My Weight Loss Journey
Before
I had literally tried everything. I have been in the weight loss battle for the last 15 years. I managed to slim down a few times with regimens that were unsustainable. Cardio for 1-2 hours 4 times a week with strength training 1-2 hours, 3-4 times a week. Yes, it did work, (until it didn’t). But let’s be honest…I was an ICU Nurse Practitioner working 10-12 hours a day. I barely had time to sleep, let alone keep the workout schedule I had committed to. As soon as I decreased my workout schedule, here came the extra pounds.

In 2018, when I was trying to slim down to get into my wedding gown, I was starving myself, walking several times daily and still barely managed to lose 10 lbs. But after the wedding, I fell victim to the newlywed weight gain. Another 20 lbs.! UGGH!!! I again tried eating better, exercising…nothing seemed to work.

Nothing I could fit into my schedule. I kept searching for answers but wasn’t finding them. It seemed like every new pound I gained needed company and brought a friendly pound along as a guest. Worst of all, I was always hungry. Even after I just ate, I was hungry again. And the hunger was like an angry, gnawing in my stomach…almost painful.

Meanwhile, I noticed a friend had lost a significant amount of weight. In the past we have discussed our propensity for weight gain and have had much the same experience. Something was working for her, and I needed to know her secret. I pulled her to the side and shared how I was struggling and asked if she would please share her secret with me. It was a GLP-1 agonist!

I did some research and decided it was worth the effort. Honestly, the first 2 months I saw no changes in my weight or appetite. I was getting discouraged and considered quitting- chalk it up to another failed attempt! But I was encouraged to give it at least 6 months. I’m glad I did!

I am now a shadow of the woman I was prior to using GLP-1 agonist. I’ve lost 60 plus pounds! I’m heavier than my BMI would indicate was normal, but I look great in my clothes and I’m happy with the woman I see in the mirror. During my journey, I’ve learned some things about myself, the use of this drug class and have taken notes on how to do it most effectively.

I’ve reviewed the evidence-based research and antidotal commentary. “Muscle wasting” is a real phenomenon, but it isn’t a necessary part of the journey. Done correctly this can be avoided. Post GLP-1agonist weight gain is also valid but can be mitigated with the right weight management plan.

My goal is to help you achieve your goals through weight loss medications and sustainable lifestyle changes that put a permanent end to the weight lose yoyo. Thirst hydration was designed with you in mind. Come in and be rejuvenated!
